Client Description:
Vulcan Materials Company is the US’s largest producer of construction aggregates—primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel—and a major producer of aggregates-based construction materials including asphalt and ready-mixed concrete.
Overview:
A test was run in Vulcan’s Southeast Division in Columbia, in order to determine performance and penetration rate of the Puma P5SH as compared to the competitor’s hammer. Each hammer was tested drilling one 47 ft. deep hole, in hard rock conditions. Air pressure was 23.5 – 24 Bar, and pull down was 700 psi. Drill rig used was Ingersoll Rand T4, with a 900 SQ FT compressor.
Results:
- The Puma P5SH showed an improvement of +20% in drilling speed.
- Penetration rate for the Puma P5SH was 2.20 ft/min, as opposed to 1.85 ft/min with the competitor’s hammer.
